Synopsis
Released from prison on the eve of his 25th birthday, Marty returns home to his family in South Philly, equipped with a handwritten manuscript and big dreams to turn his life around. But his cousin Junior has also come home with problems of his own, setting them on a collision course as they struggle to break free of the curse that has haunted their family for generations. Can Marty put his hands to good use, or is his fate already written?

Matthew Elam (Co-Executive Producer)- MARTY
Matthew Elam is a BFA graduate at DePaul's "The Theatre School" in Chicago. His recent credits include “Ace of Spades” (Hoodoo Love, Raven Theatre), “Omari” (Pipeline, Victory Gardens Theatre) “Curtis” (Late Company, Cor Theatre) and “Lemuel” in FX’s “Fargo” season 4. He is repped by M88 Management.

Aaron Shaw- JUNIOR
Aaron Grady Shaw is a Baltimore based Actor and alumn of the BFA Acting program at California Institute of the Arts. Past credits include Law & Order, A string of Nick @ Night commercials, as well as appearing as a series regular on Season 2 of HBO’s Intreatment. He’s also appeared on Season 3 of Starz “Power” and most recently can be seen as a guest star on HBO’s We Own The City.

Terrence Riggins- MIKE MONEY
BEST KNOWN FOR HIS ROLES AS SPIDER IN WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? AND DON NAVARONE IN THE CBS SOAP OPERA THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL TERRENCE HAS APPEARED IN EPISODES OF SEINFELD AND LAW AND ORDER. HE BEGAN HIS EQUITY CAREER IN THE TITLE ROLE OF AUGUST WILSON'S KING HEDLEY II UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE LATE ISRAEL HICKS FOR THE DENVER CENTER THEATRE COMPANY WHERE HE WAS AN ACTING COMPANY MEMBER. HE THEN WENT ON TO PLAY STANLEY AND THORVALD, RESPECTIVELY, IN THE COMPANY'S ADAPTATION OF A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE AND A DOLL'S HOUSE. HE HAS APPEARED AS HARMOND WILKS, CAESAR WILKS, AND WALTER LEE YOUNGER ALSO UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MR. HICKS, WHOM HE CREDITS ALONG WITH AUGUST WILSON WITH REAWAKENING HIS PASSION FOR THE THEATRE. MR. RIGGINS IS ALSO A PRODUCED PLAYWRIGHT WHOSE PLAY OTIS AND ZORA PRODUCED BY THE BILLIE HOLIDAY THEATRE GARNERED SEVERAL AUDELCO AWARD NOMINATIONS. HIS SOLO SHOWS, UNBECOMING TRAGEDY A RITUAL JOURNEY TOWARD DESTINY AND THE PICASSO INCIDENT ARE CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT.

Bernadette Speakes- NEET
Bernadette is an award-winning actor and accomplished director, recognized for her exceptional talent and contributions to the industry. Her creative vision and storytelling prowess have garnered critical acclaim, solidifying her reputation as a sought-after artist in the industry.
Bernadette’s visionary work includes the psychological thriller "Imaginist," which garnered the prestigious "Best Production” title at the Black August Film Festival. Additionally, her captivating and award-winning horror narrative "Privoke" earned her the esteemed "Audience Choice Award" at the WOCU/JTC & Entertwine's 48-Hour Horror Film Festival Competition.
Bernadette has shared the stage and screen with esteemed actors such as Robert Downey Jr. and Sidney Poitier, showcasing her versatility and commanding presence. In 2017, she was part of the ensemble cast of Love Jones, (where she played the iconic role of Shelia), and was honored with the Cinematic Classic award at the ABFF Awards. Her powerful performances have graced notable TV shows, including Hulu's "Tiny Beautiful Things," Netflix's "First Kill," and CW's "All American," where she captivates audiences as a recurring guest star.

Robert Lee Hardy- NICK
Robert Lee Hardy was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. He is graduate of SUNY Purchase, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting. His recent stage credits include This Is Modern Art , A Time To Kill, The Snowy Day and Home. Hardy’s film & TV credits include, Jazz in the Diamond District, Jamesy Boy and HBO’s The Wire. Hardy has conducted workshops for the Baltimore Juvenile Justice System, as well as drug addiction programs. He has performed for and enlightened inmates at the Maryland and Jessup Correctional Institutes. Mr. Hardy has written and performed two one man shows “Me, Myself and Us” and “I Carry My Own Spotlight”.

Akilah Walker- ANGEL
Akilah most recently led the production of 'The Bluest Eye' as Pecola Breedlove at A Noise Within Theatre Co, for which she was nominated 'Best Performer in a Play' by BroadwayWorld LA Awards. She was also seen in the world premiere of Marty & The Hands That Could at Waco Theater Center in 2023 and is thrilled to be a part of the East Coast Premiere at Arena Players! . Akilah holds an MFA in acting from American Conservatory Theater & a BA in theatre from Fordham University. Akilah has been seen on stage at Classical Theatre of Harlem, New York Stage & Film and Berkeley Repertory Theatre to name a few. Akilah also is a director/writer/producer and co-founder of Good Mother Films. Akilah was named "Best First Time Director (Female)" by The Independent Shorts Awards for her directorial debut short film ‘Ivar Tunnel: Shook Ones’ (IT:SO) which made its television debut on REVOLT. Akilah is a 2022 Directing Fellow in the NALIP/Netflix Latino Lens Women of color Narrative Short Film Incubator for ‘Pedacito de Carne’ a short film raising awareness for dementia and millennial caregivers. Tiffany Lavette- TAN
Tiffany is a Baltimore native returning to theater after a hiatus to raise her family. Some of her early theater credits include being in the Summer Youth theater program at The Arena players theater in the late 80's. Tiffany also is a graduate from the Baltimore School for The Arts where she studied Theater. She's had the pleasure of performing at many local venues and theaters; including Pumpkin Theater, where she played the role of Kaa in the Jungle Book. Tiffany has also been selected by several playwrights to perform stage readings. Tiffany was last seen in Josh Wilder's WHO GAVE SYLVIA THE BOTTLE? at Charm City Fringe.

Malik Curbean Jr.- LIL MAR
My name is Malik Curbean Jr, a Baltimore native. I attend the Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys. I enjoy playing football as a Quaterback and Safety for the Hamilton Youth Football Team. This is my stage debut!

Brian Jamal Marshall- Set Designer
Brian Marshall is a Set Designer, Visual Artist, and Carpenter. He is a proud alum of Baltimore School for the Arts (‘01) and Morgan State University (‘15). Currently he serves as Master Carpenter at Baltimore Center Stage.

Stacey Brown- Associate Producer
Stacey Brown is a born and raised Baltimorean. Her recent producing credits include Who Gave Sylvia The Bottle? at Charm City Fringe. When she’s not producing, she serves as the Board Chair of The Baltimore Children’s Peace Center. Stacey is a proud alum of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (‘03) and has a MA in User Experience Design from UBALT.

Josh Wilder-Playwright/Director/Co-Executive Producer)
Josh Wilder is a playwright and producer from Philadelphia. His work has been developed; commissioned; and produced at various regional theaters and festivals across the country including The Fire This Time Festival, Classical Theatre of Harlem, New York Theatre Workshop, True Colors Theatre Company, The Kennedy Center, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 2015 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference, PlayPenn, Company One, InterAct Theatre Company, and Yale Rep. Past awards include the Holland New Voices Award, The Lorraine Hansberry Award, The Rosa Parks Award, and The ASCAP Cole Porter Prize. Josh is a former Jerome Fellow and the first national recipient of the Jerome Many Voices Fellowship at The Playwrights’ Center. He has been in residence at The Royal Court Theatre ; Sundance at UCross; and served as Co-Artistic Director at The Yale Cabaret for its 50th season and Co- Founder/Producer of the New Griots Black Arts Festival in The Twin Cities with Jamil Jude. Currently, he’s stationed in Baltimore, MD. MFA: Yale School of Drama. BFA: Carnegie Mellon.
